If you have been following social media recently many posts have been about Shetland Wool Week. On Whalsay we have had a very busy week in the Heritage Centre with lots of planned activities such as talks by Rhea Kay and Andrea Williamson, ShetlandPeerieMakkers teaching their peers to finger knit and dot out patterns, knitting and spinning demonstrations and more.
Wool Week is fast approaching, please see our Wool Week page for information about what will be going on in the Whalsay Heritage Centre. Here you will also find a flyer with information about what else is going on throughout Whalsay. There is food available at different venues all week.
We have some very exciting news! During last years Fair Isle Through the Decades exhibition many visitors asked if we would be making a book? We can now let you know our "Whalsay Fair Isle Knitting Through the Decades" books have been printed.
We will be having our book launch on Saturday, 1st July from 2-5pm at the Whalsay Heritage and Community Centre. Everyone welcome.
The Whalsay Wool Week committee have been busy organising an excellent programme of activities and venues to provide food over Shetland Wool Week.
